Creepy Faces!

Creepy Faces!

It is a well known fact that one of the earliest investors in Facebook was The CIA> why where they interested? Because where better to track down information on a suspect than to have it voluntarily released on The Internet – Brilliant!
The age of The Internet is of course a double edged sword. Much good is done through social collaboration. However, the so called Dark Web is now supposed to take up over 70% of usage.
The holy grail of advertising is to have the perfect client profile so that products and services can be personally targeted per potential client. Such targeting is what has driven Facebook to record advertising revenue.
It did not take a computer engineer long to create a tool he interestingly named ‘CREEPY’ that pulls together every single piece of information on any person on The Web and produces an exact location for them. Imagine if that same information was already being used by The State!
But as people realise more and more what information is being gathered about them, how will this effect their usage of social media?
In the near future, people will move away from big corporate social media organisations, being prepared to relinquish some ease of mass communication, in order to protect their privacy.
There will be an increasing number of private platforms that people set up to communicate within social or business groups. These web platforms will not be reliant on advertising and will guarantee, as far as is possible, personal privacy.
This of course will be a headache for existing companies who rely on the advertising revenue for growth. It will also cause new problems for security services!
